2024 - MIXED MEDIA PORTRAITURE

Let’s celebrate women and mothers in honour of Mothers Day through creativity and togetherness! Take some time out of your busy schedule to nourish your heart and soul with self-expression and creativity in this fine line illustration and watercolour portraiture workshop.

In this workshop you will learn how to combine fine link illustration techniques with loose expressive watercolour to create beautiful and joyful layered portraits.

Private Workshops

2024 - ADULT WORKSHOP OFFERINGS

Looking for a unique creative experience to share with friends, family or work colleagues? Or perhaps you are running a retreat and you are looking for a creative component to compliment your offering? Maybe you want to celebrate your birthday, a baby shower, hens night or another special event?

I have the following workshops available in which I can either accomodate you in my studio, hire a space in or around Perth, or I can come to you with all the required art materials. I am also able to create a bespoke workshop tailored to your specific wants/needs, for example, I have created a mixed media Frida Kahlo portraiture workshop for a Frida fan birthday. Unless otherwise stated, all workshops are suitable for beginners and those with experience alike

** Minimum quantity required per workshop is 6 people, travel fee may apply, as well as external booking fees to hire a space of your choice.

Paint a skyscape/sunset (3hrs)

We have some of the most stunning and beautiful sunsets/ sunrises in Perth. Skies, particularly sunsets, can be very powerful in reminding us to be in the present moment and connects us to nature. In this workshop, you will be guided through the whole process of painting your own skyscape, focusing on creating a gradation, atmospheric perspective, light and how to paint clouds.

Materials provided: 8” x 8” canvas, acrylic paint, brushes, medium for blending, pencils & erasers,all reference materials

Australian botanical fine line pen illustration (2.5hrs)

Join us as we learn the meditative art of fine line illustration. You will create your own Australian botanical illustration in a relaxed and supportive environment. You will learn the art of observation, as well as some fundamental skills and techniques to render value, form and texture in your own Australian botanical illustration using a variety of fine line pens on a beautiful wood panel.

Materials provided: 16.5” diameter wood panel, pencils & erasers, variety of fine line illustration pens, all reference materials and botanicals

Drawing the Australian landscape - masterclass (3hrs)

We will create an atmospheric drawing inspired by the Australian bush using graphite/charcoal). In this workshop you will learn skills and techniques to create realism through form, atmosphere, light, depth and texture.

*This workshop can be done insitu, nestled in the bush amidst nature, or we will work from beautiful high resolution reference imagery.

Materials provided: A3 acid free 300gsm quality paper, charcoal & graphite, blending sticks, erasers, reference material, spray fixative

Goddess paper-clay vessel (2.5hrs)

Enjoy a hands on earthy workshop sculpting and building a figurative goddess vessel (vase/cup) Suitable for absolute beginners through to experienced individuals. During the workshop you will gain new knowledge, skills and confidence and you will learn new and old techniques to apply to your own earthy feminine vessel to celebrate the beauty of the female form in all its shapes and sizes.

Materials provided: Paper clay, tools, boards, reference materials

Portrait drawing - shading masterclass (3hrs)

Have you always wanted to learn how to render a portrait but haven’t a clue where to start? In this workshop you will create a beautiful and emotive A3 sized portrait using graphite/charcoal. You will be shown the art of observation as well as some tricks of the trade in ‘seeing’. You will learn several drawing techniques to create form, value, and texture to build realism in your portrait.

Materials provided: A3 acid- free 300gsm paper, graphite pencils & erasers, blending stumps, fixative spray

Watercolour Botanical Painting (3hrs)

In this workshop you will learn about interesting compositions and cropping, several watercolour techniques, colour theory, and how to render form and texture in beautiful sculptural botanicals using watercolour paint. You will be walked through the whole drawing process and how to mask out area and how to create washes and layer paints using wet on wet painting.

Materials provided: Watercolour paints, watercolour brushes, A3 acid free 300gsm watercolour paper, masking fluid, pencils & erasers, reference material & botanicals

Past Workshops

AUSTRALIAN BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION - August 2020, I held a beautiful Australian Botanical Illustration workshop at Feld & Co in Booragoon. 16 lovely people joined me amongst lush Australian botanicals supplied by Floral Army. It was a beautiful creative Sunday morning in a calm and relaxing space. We explored a variety of linework and applied illustration techniques such as hatching and pointillism to render stunning fine line ink drawings on lovely wooden discs.

In my art studio in Fremantle WA

This little art studio has been a dream of mine for many years. I have kept the idea of it safe with me in my heart and mind across continents from Toronto, Canada to my current home here in Fremantle, Western Australia. This is where I bring all my creative and teaching skills to life.

I have moved house! And I cannot wait to share more of my new studio space with you, so stay tuned for a tour of my new space once I have everything set up properly.
